Head of School

Brian brings a strong business background and a passion for education to his role as Head of School. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Economics. After years of teaching overseas Brian had a successful 20 year career in Hospitality, managing hotels and resorts. A parent of two, including a current SCM student, Brian looks forward to helping our new school achieve long-term sustainability and success in the community.



Lisa brings 20+ years of administrative and marketing experience with her to the front office. She received a BA in Communication from UCSD and completed her Early Childhood Education at SBCC. She has been involved with local schools as a student, parent, volunteer, and employee. She is the parent of two Montessori school alumni and is passionate about Montessori education.


Primary Program Assistant

A long time resident of Santa Barbara, Brenda inherited her passion & love for children from her mother, also a teacher. She received her ECE Associate Teaching Certificate at Santa Barbara City College, and is currently working on transferring to Channel Islands to receive a Bachelors in ECE. Being new to Montessori philosophy, her goal is to continue her Montessori learning. She is inspired to create a safe and loving environment for children, and hopes one day to be able to travel and make a difference in underprivileged countries. 


Primary Program Assistant

Sophie is a Santa Barbara native who enjoys creating art, cooking, hiking, and other outdoor activities. After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Chapman University, she moved to San Francisco where she discovered her passion for early childhood education. She is currently in the Early Childhood Education program at SBCC. She plans to complete her Associate’s Degree in ECE and continue on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree.


Primary Program Aftercare

Sophia grew up in the Bay Area and attended college at California State University Chico where she will be receiving her major in Sociology and her minor in Child Development. She previously worked at a preschool in Chico while attending classes and has recently moved to Santa Barbara to continue her passion. Her goal is to obtain her credential in multiple subject education while continuing working with children throughout.


Primary Program Aftercare

Emma grew up in the Bay Area before moving south to attend Santa Barbara City College. She attended a Montessori preschool owned by her Mother and spent time working with primary students at that same school. This inspired her passion for working with preschool students and to learn more about the Montessori curriculum, while also remaining a part time student at City College. She enjoys spending time with animals, in nature, and cooking in at home.


Toddler Program Assistant

Jennifer was born in San Diego but has lived in the Santa Ynez valley for the majority of her life. She graduated with a bachelors in psychology from San Francisco State. After two years working in a child education center at SFSU she realized that it's what she loves to do. Her goal is to continue working with children and continue studying towards a masters in Child Development.


Toddler Program Assistant

Yarely was born in Mexico City but has been raised in Carpinteria since age four. She recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Special Education from Azusa Pacific University. She aspires to become a Speech Language Pathologist and continue serving her community. She is excited to keep learning more about the Montessori method so that she can better serve the children. 


Toddler Program Assistant

Mardell was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She recently graduated from California Lutheran University, where she earned her Bachelors in Psychology and Art. Her dream is to one day become an art therapist, where she can combine her passions of art, children, and mental wellness. She loves working in early childhood education as it allows her to be creative and have fun.


Toddler Program Aide

Emily was born and raised in Santa Barbara. She has worked with children and been around them all her life. She hopes to promote a healthy and safe learning environment through her position as an aide and plans on starting her studies in Early Childhood Education.


Infant Program Assistant

Yvette was born in Los Angeles and raised in Santa Barbara. She graduated from Santa Barbara City College with an associates and 3 certificates in the field of Early Childhood Education. She is excited to be part of the SCM team and to learn more about the Montessori philosophy. In her free time she likes to go to different parks with her two children.


Infant Program Assistant

Paola was born and raised in Santa Barbara and is currently attending SBCC majoring in Early Childhood Education (ECE). She is a first generation college student, and became interested in education after having her son last year. She plans to graduate with an AA in ECE and transfer to CSU Channel Islands.


Infant Program Assistant

Lizette is a Santa Barbara local. She graduated from Santa Barbara City College with two Liberal Studies degrees with an emphasis in Education, and Arts & Humanities. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree at San Diego State University in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She has worked in several child care settings ranging from Teacher’s Assistant to ABA therapy. She is thrilled to be a part of the South Coast Montessori team and expand her experience with children of different ages.


Infant Program Assistant

Mia was born in Arizona and moved to Santa Barbara to attend college. A UCSB graduate with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education she has always been passionate about working with children and is currently in graduate school for Clinical Psychology. Her goal for the future is to be a child psychologist and working at South Coast Montessori will give her valuable hands-on experience with children. She is excited for the chance to help children grow and to support them in any way they need. 


Infant Program Assistant

Robin has always been passionate about working with children, earning her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in early childhood. When her family began to grow she left the classroom to homeschool her five children. She is truly grateful for that opportunity and appreciates the Montessori approach that allows children to initiate their own learning. Equipped with these invaluable experiences she is ready to be part of the South Coast Montessori team!


Infant Program Aide

Tessa was born in Ventura, California where she currently resides. Presently, she is studying Early Childhood Education at Oxnard Community College. Tessa has always found great fulfillment in taking care of and teaching young children. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, hanging out with family and spending quality time with her dog, Belle.


Maintenance and Janitorial

Ruben was born in Mexico City, and grew up in the small town of Hidalgo Mexico where he graduated with a math major. Upon moving to the United States, he settled in Santa Barbara and attended SBCC, learning English as a Second Language. Since starting at the campus in 2011, Ruben has rarely missed an evening of cleaning and maintaining our classrooms. More recently he has taken on projects for the school, including building the toddler play structures. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking and running in his free time.
