Head of School

Brian brings a strong business background and a passion for education to his role as Head of School. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Economics. After years of teaching overseas Brian had a successful 20 year career in Hospitality, managing hotels and resorts. A parent of two, including a current SCM student, Brian looks forward to helping our new school achieve long-term sustainability and success in the community.



Lisa brings 20+ years of administrative and marketing experience with her to the front office. She has been involved with local schools for the past 18 years as a parent, volunteer and employee, and is passionate about Montessori education.

When away from school activities, Lisa enjoys gardening, exercising and all that Santa Barbara has to offer. She is the parent of two Montessori school alumni: Evan attending UC Santa Cruz, and Nina attending San Marcos High School.


Primary Program Assistant

Mackenzie  is an avid horse back rider and explorer originally from CT and the east coast to Oregon and now here to enjoy the lifestyle. After having her daughter she went back to school and received her associates degree and Early Childhood Education certificate. She now wants to learn the Montessori philosophy and is excited for this new adventure as assistant teacher. 


Primary Program Assistant

A long time resident of Santa Barbara, Brenda inherited her passion & love for children from her mother, also a teacher. She received her ECE Associate Teaching Certificate at Santa Barbara City College, and is currently working on transferring to Channel Islands to receive a Bachelors in ECE. Being new to Montessori philosophy, her goal is to continue her Montessori learning. She is inspired to create a safe and loving environment for children, and hopes one day to be able to travel and make a difference in underprivileged countries. 


Toddler Program Assistant

Jennifer was born in San Diego but has lived in the Santa Ynez valley for the majority of her life. She graduated with a bachelors in psychology from San Francisco State. After two years working in a child education center at SFSU she realized that it's what she loves to do. Her goal is to continue working with children and continue studying towards a masters in Child Development.


Toddler Program Assistant

Yarely was born in Mexico City but has been raised in Carpinteria since age four. She recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Special Education from Azusa Pacific University. She aspires to become a Speech Language Pathologist and continue serving her community. She is excited to keep learning more about the Montessori method so that she can better serve the children. 


Toddler Program Assistant

Bella has been working with toddlers since she began to teach preschool gymnastics in 2016 at her home in San Diego. She moved to Santa Barbara to pursue a degree in math at UCSB and plans to become a teacher in the future. She is excited to gain experience with the Montessori method, and share her cheerful attitude and love for learning with the growing minds in our toddler classroom. When she's not at some type of school, she loves to do yoga or spend time hiking the beautiful scenery that Santa Barbara has to offer. 


Infant Program Assistant

Serina is a Santa Barbara native who has always had a strong passion for working with children. She graduated from SBCC with her CNA license and has years of experience in the child care field. She is currently working on her ECE credential. A mom herself, she looks forward to working with SCM as an assistant, helping the children to develop confidence and independence.

Yvette was born in Los Angeles and raised in Santa Barbara. She graduated from Santa Barbara City College with an associates and 3 certificates in the field of Early Childhood Education. She is excited to be part of the SCM team and to learn more about the Montessori philosophy. In her free time she likes to go to different parks with her two children.


Infant Program Assistant

Paola was born and raised in Santa Barbara and is currently attending SBCC majoring in Early Childhood Education (ECE). She is a first generation college student, and became interested in education after having her son last year. She plans to graduate with an AA in ECE and transfer to CSU Channel Islands.

Itzy is a native of Santa Barbara who recently graduated from Santa Barbara City College. She holds 3 Early Childhood Education certificates from SBCC including Infant/Toddler development, ECE, and Associate Child Care Teacher. She chose this career early on in her studies and has loved it ever since. Her passion is to be able to be there for children and see them grow and develop from the youngest of ages.

Mia was born in Arizona and moved to Santa Barbara to attend college. A UCSB graduate with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education she has always been passionate about working with children and is currently in graduate school for Clinical Psychology. Her goal for the future is to be a child psychologist and working at South Coast Montessori will give her valuable hands-on experience with children. She is excited for the chance to help children grow and to support them in any way they need. 


Infant Program Assistant

Meli was born and raised in Santa Barbara and absolutely loves the city. She is currently on her last year at SBCC working to get her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education and will be attending Fresno State in Fall 2020 to pursue her goal of getting a Master’s degree in ECE. She has a passion for children and teaching and is excited to be at SCM.

Jade is a Santa Barbara local and is currently attending Santa Barbara City College to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education. Her desire to work with children started when she began helping her mother take care of her two younger siblings. In her free time she enjoys crocheting, reading, sketching and spending time with her family.


Maintenance and Janitorial

Ruben was born in Mexico City, and grew up in the small town of Hidalgo Mexico where he graduated with a math major. Upon moving to the United States, he settled in Santa Barbara and attended SBCC, learning English as a Second Language. Since starting at the campus in 2011, Ruben has rarely missed an evening of cleaning and maintaining our classrooms. More recently he has taken on projects for the school, including building the toddler play structures. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking and running in his free time.
